Comcast Corp. has chosen long-term employee Dennis Mathew to head its “Freedom Region,” the market located in Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Kennedy Rose connected Philadelphia Business Journal readers with the details.

Mathew will oversee 2,500 Comcast employees from its Trevose office. The team will serve more than two million regional customers.

His track record with the communications giant is lengthy and successful: His launch of Xfinity Home, the service’s residential automation and security suite, was a significant win.

As a devout Eagles fan, he is happy to be back in the area; Mathew is relocating from the company’s Western New England region (Patriots country).

“If you cut me, I bleed green,” Mathew said. He’s also looking to revel in the home of the country’s best cheesesteaks.

Weekend football and culinary pleasures aside, he is excited about this phase of his career. “This is a role where I can be plugged into the local community in a way that’s different and exciting,” he said.

Mathew’s priority as senior vice president of the Freedom Region is to stay out of the way of ongoing success. The area has already had a good year, and it’s on track for a strong finish to 2021. Mathew is therefore concentrating on collaborating with colleagues to understand more about the market, he said.

More on this new role for Dennis Mathew is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
