Plymouth Meeting Fifth Grader One of Only Three Kids Nationwide Headed to World Series

Plymouth Meeting fifth grader Lori Flannery is a true softball star, writes Jamie Apody for 6abc.

She can throw, hit, and run and she was able to show off all those skills recently when she won her age group at the regional Pitch Hit and Run Competition at Citizen’s Bank Park.

“I wanted to win so badly,” said Lori Flannery. “And I won, so I’m happy about that.”

Lori’s got game, there’s no question about it!

But she did more than just win. Her score ranked her among the top three in the nation and earned her a spot in the World Series.

However, her parents did not give her the exciting news until she got home. Her dad was prepared for a true celebration with a giant World Series poster.

“He gets out a poster and he holds it up,” recalled Lori Flannery. “It says, ‘World Series!’ And I was so happy I actually high-fived the poster board and said, ‘Yeah!'”

At the end of the month, she will get to compete at Game 4 of the World Series.

As for her future, Flannery is not focused solely on softball.

“I want to play professional football,” she said.
