Bucks County is home to two of the ten best places to go mountain biking in the Philadelphia region, writes Melissa Martens for Philadelphia Magazine.

Nockamixon State Park in Quakertown offers ten miles of trails around Lake Nockamixon. They are an appropriate challenge for both beginner and intermediate riders. And they provide gorgeous scenic views of the foliage and the lake.

The two-mile northern loops have minimal rocks and mild terrain. The southern area has trails with steep hills, shallow streams, and rock gardens to cross, along with trees to weave through.

Meanwhile, Tohickon Valley Park in Point Pleasant is home to High Rocks Trail. It, too, is a great go-to choice for intermediate and advanced riders.

The route here is both rocky and technical, with several drop-offs and sprint climbs. To put your pulse in a more relaxed mode, the trail passes through picturesque scenery filled with flowers and wildlife.

And while the ride is challenging, reaching the cliff overlook makes it worth it, as it also signals the tremendous feat you achieved.
