Philadelphia Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole. Her report of rising coronavirus cases in the area, including Bucks County, is a major concern.

According to the CDC, Bucks County is experiencing a COVID-19 “substantial” spread. FOX29 News covered the dreaded development.

At least we’re not alone in our bad news: Delaware and Montgomery County case numbers are also unsettlingly rising. And we’re one of 609 counties nationwide presently backsliding in the COVID-19 fight.

The COVID-19 substantial spread is defined as a seven-day increase in new cases of between 50 and 99.99 per 1,000 residents.

For the seven days ending Monday, August 2, Bucks County had 56.19 cases per 100,000 residents. Montgomery County’s slippage was highest, at 59.93 per 100,000.

As a result of the growing number of new cases (mostly fueled by the Delta variant), residents are once again advised to wear masks, indoors even if they are vaccinated.

In addition, the health department also suggests avoiding crowded spaces and relocating indoor gatherings outside when possible. At present, wearing masks around people whose vaccination status is unknown is strongly advised.
