Pennsylvania ranked in the top half of states that are recovering the quickest from COVID-19, according to a new report by WalletHub.

To determine which geographies are recovering the fastest, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across three key dimensions:

  • COVID health
  • Leisure and travel
  • Economy and labor market

Analysts evaluated these dimensions using 19 relevant metrics.

Pennsylvania ranked No. 23 overall, coming in highest for COVID health at No. 15. The Keystone State ranked at No. 29 in economy and labor market and No. 42 in leisure and travel.

In specific metrics, the state ranked highest (sixth place) in total weekly consumer spending compared with pre-COVID-19 levels. It also placed high (No. 14) in its share of the vaccine supply used. Conversely, however, it also ranked toward the top of hospitals with supply shortages (No. 17).

The state ranked 21st in its share of fully vaccinated population, and came in at No. 34 based on the unemployment rate compared to pre-COVID-19 levels.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania ranked lowest in the number of job postings compared to pre-COVID-19 levels at No. 44.
