Malvern-based CertainTeed — maker of building products that include roofing, siding, and fencing — opened a new facility in Quakertown. Peter Blanchard’s coverage of the expansion appeared at MSN.
The new facility will enable the manufacturer to produce STONEfaçade, a concrete exterior building covering that is reportedly easier to install and maintain than traditional stonework on a home exterior. The CertainTeed product comes in convenient panels that can be mounted by a vinyl siding contractor, as opposed to hiring a stone mason to produce the same look.
Projections cite the new location’s job-creation potential. CertainTeed expects to fill 45 new Quakertown jobs over the next three years.
The company’s investment goes beyond just the acquisition of the real estate; it expects to spend funds on leasehold improvements and new equipment.
“CertainTeed is one of Pennsylvania’s legacy companies, calling the commonwealth home for more than a century, and we are thrilled to see its continued expansion,” Governor Tom Wolf said in reference to the news. “My administration is committed to supporting businesses like this across the state, helping them to grow their operations, better serve their customers, and provide new jobs and opportunities to the surrounding community.”
Joe Bondi, Vice President and General Manager of CertainTeed Sidings Product Group, commented, “We’re excited to bring our new STONEfaçade products to more customers around the country, and we’re grateful for the continued interest in and support of our business from our home state of Pennsylvania.”
