Bucks County Community College (BCCC) earned a spot in a statewide assessment of tuitions charged by Pennsylvania colleges and universities.

BCCC took spot #6 in the SmartAsset ranking.

SmartAsset is a New York City-based financial technology company that directs consumers toward informed personal finance decisions.

Five metrics determined overall results for college value:

  1. Tuition
  2. Student living costs (room, board, books, transportation, etc.)
  3. Scholarship and grant offerings
  4. Student retention rate
  5. Starting salaries for new graduates

SmartAsset’s analysts then compared these costs against students’ expected returns on investment. Starting salaries, tuition and living costs were weighted, as were scholarships/grants and retention.

The calculations resulted in a Best-Value College Index, from which school rankings emerged. The top score was 100, with subsequent results filtering downward for comparison.

BCCC’s scholarship/grant average, tuition and retention rates yielded a Best-Value College Index of 96.46.

Nationally, the same tuition assessment puts BCCC at 835th.
