One Bucks County Township Places Fifth on List of Safest Communities in PA
Buckingham Township has been cited as one of the top 10 places to live in Pennsylvania for 2021, reports Safewise’s Rebecca Edwards.
Safewise is an independent research, safety and reviewing organization. FBI crime data are foundational to its rankings, published annually since 2014.
Bucks County was cited as follows:
Community | Safety Ranking |
---|---|
Buckingham | 5 |
Northampton | 12 |
New Britain | 17 |
Central Bucks Regional | 24 |
Doylestown | 29 |
Warrington | 40 |
Warminster | 48 |
Bristol | 78 |
Pennsylvania continues to have lower crime rates than the rest of the country. Its safest cities report fewer than five crimes per 1,000 people on average.
Given the recent scrutiny of law enforcement agencies nationwide, Safewise addressed the latest results with increased awareness and sensitivity.
A statement on its website reads:
“Crime data, on its own, misses many nuances that contribute to safety — or the lack thereof — including the persistent systemic issues of police violence, economic disparity and racism.
“Simple counts of violent and property crime incidents don’t reflect important realities that impact both the perception and the reality of safety in neighborhoods and cities.”
Details on Safewise and the full list of noted communities are on its website.
