The success of the robotic surgery program at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne has sparked hospital administrators to double down on the technology and install a second unit, reports the hospital. 

Call it RoboSurgeon 2. 

Actually, it’s a daVinci Robot Surgical System, featuring three-dimensional, high-definition visualization and allows for enhanced dexterity and greater precision and control. Robotic-assisted surgery is minimally invasive and can reduce a patient’s time in the hospital. 

Robotic surgical treatments are available across all subspecialties—including treatments for common conditions such as hernias, as well as colorectal conditions like benign and malignant colon and rectal polyps, tumors and malignancies. 

“This is a significant investment for both our hospital and community,” said Larry Brilliant, MD, President of St. Mary. “By acquiring a second, more advanced surgical robot, we’ve greatly expanded our surgical services for minimally invasive procedures. 

“In the last year, we’ve also added five highly trained and very experienced robotic surgeons to our team. This means Bucks County residents now have even greater access to the most advanced life-saving procedures.” 

Additional advantages include easing the surgeon’s task of performing very complex surgical procedures and shortening patient recovery times. 

Based on past success, the hospital envisions expanding its robotic surgery program.
