Doylestown Welcomes New Philly Pretzel Factory with Grand Opening Celebration

Fresh-baked pretzels have a new home in Bucks County. Philly Pretzel Factory opened its doors at the East Street Center in Doylestown at 7 a.m. on June 17, giving residents one more reason to detour on their way to lunch, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.

A grand opening for the new location will follow on Friday June 19, complete with a ribbon-cutting, free pretzels, and Phillies ticket giveaways.

It’s the latest outpost for a brand that’s become shorthand for the region’s favorite snack. Philly Pretzel Factory got its start in 1998, when college friends Dan DiZio and Len Lehman decided Philadelphia’s signature soft pretzel deserved a storefront of its own.

Now, nearly three decades later, that idea has multiplied into more than 165 franchised locations nationwide, making it the largest Philly-style soft pretzel chain in the country, though the new Doylestown shop still carries the same hometown DNA.

The menu features soft pretzels, twists, rivets, pretzel dogs, cheesesteak pretzels, and mini pretzels, all served, as the company likes to say, “hot outta the oven,” alongside a lineup of mustards built for dunking.

Doylestown got the full welcome-mat treatment for the occasion. Celebrating the grand opening, store operators said, “We are so excited to meet you, so stop by, say hello, and get a free pretzel. Don’t forget to bring your friends!”
