The ShopRite of Yardley recently unveiled a new fast-charging EV station with ten chargers in the store’s parking lot, writes Dino Ciliberti for Patch.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new Electrify America fast-charging station was held on Earth Day.
Each of the chargers is capable of delivering up to 350 kW.
Owners and operators of the Yardley ShopRite, the Colalillo family, were joined by Electrify America representatives and store associates at the ceremony.
Along with celebrating the station, the event helped emphasize the importance of improving access to sustainable transportation options.
“Launching this state-of-the-art station on Earth Day makes the moment even more meaningful,” said Joseph Colalillo, president of ShopRite of Hunterdon County. “By working with Electrify America, we’re able to bring convenient, fast and reliable EV charging to our Yardley store while reinforcing our commitment to our customers and community.”
The new EV station is part of an effort by the retailer-owned supermarket cooperative, Wakefern Food Corp., to strengthen sustainable infrastructure and expand electric vehicle charging locations at ShopRite stores.
“This new charging station in Yardley is our first location with ShopRite in Pennsylvania and we’re thrilled to bring this amenity to their customers,” said Ursula Lazo, portfolio management leader at Electrify America.
