Corey Krejcik, former general manager of Chaddsford Winery, is planning to open Proximity Wine Bar in Unionville, with a focus on local producers, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
All of the food and beverages will come exclusively from suppliers within 100 miles of Unionville. The concept will also serve as an education and community hub, offering classes and tastings while creating an additional revenue stream and retail outlet for area wineries.
“It’s another strategy, quite frankly, to help an industry that needs fresh, new ideas,” said Krejcik.
Krejcik added the flagship location is still being finalized, but the concept is tentatively planned for 1701 W. Doe Run Road. The site was purchased in October for roughly $912,000 by Jessie Mooberry and Soren Rubin, owners of the nearby coffee shop Farmer & Co.
The opening timeline for for the wine bar depends on funding. Krejcik has raised about half of the planned $600,000 needed to launch the concept.
Krejcik spent ten years as general manager of Chaddsford Winery and worked there intermittently for over two decades, later remaining with the team through the transition after its 2024 sale.
