Aqua Pennsylvania Wins $3.6 Million in PENNVEST Funding for Lead Service Line Replacements

Aqua Pennsylvania secured $3.6M in PENNVEST funding to replace nearly 400 lead service lines across Delaware County.

In a move to improve water infrastructure, Aqua Pennsylvania has been awarded a $3.6 million low-interest loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority for lead service line replacements throughout Delaware County.

Nearly 400 customer-owned lead and galvanized steel service lines will be replaced in the following communities:

· Upper Darby

· East Lansdowne

· Lansdowne

· Millbourne

· Yeadon

This latest service line replacement project is expected to start this summer and be completed in summer 2027. Customer-owned service lines are the pipes running from approximately the curb to homes and businesses. Aqua already treats drinking water to prevent the leaching of lead from pipes into the drinking water, but replacing these aging pipes is an extra step in reducing the risk for customers.
