The Bensalem institution Fisher’s, which closed in the summer of 2024, is getting closer to reopening its doors following an extensive renovation, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The popular eatery is in the process of completing the transformation of the first floor into a seafood buffet restaurant while revitalizing its second-level catering and event spaces.
Tommy Liu, owner of Royal Seafood & Grill and King Seafood in Philadelphia, is leading the transformation. He partnered with Jamal Awad, the building’s owner, aiming to reopen by mid-year.
The reopening will mark a new chapter for Fisher’s, which began in 1962 as a small seafood eatery on Castor Avenue in Philadelphia. It then expanded in 1976 with a second Bensalem location offering restaurant, catering, and event services. Its original owner, Steve Pavlis, died in 2011, and the business was taken over by his late son, George, who passed away in 2024.
Shortly after his death, Awad, a longtime employee, closed the restaurant to begin a major renovation of the 64,000-square-foot building.
Eighteen months later, Awad and Liu are finally nearing the finish line, with construction on both floors now almost complete.
