Fifty Bucks County Residents Receive Financial Help from Local Philanthropists

With the help of a $50,000 donation from the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund, the BCOC is giving 50 residents $1,000 checks.

Fifty residents across Bucks County will be receiving financial relief thanks to a $50,000 donation from the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.

The Bucks County Opportunity Council is distributing $1,000 checks to select individuals, with the first recipients receiving their checks last Wednesday during a special event.

“Assistance can make a meaningful difference during difficult times, helping families stabilize and move forward,” said Gene and Marlene

“BCOC has participants who need that support and Gene and Marlene understand that this gift might change someone’s month, improve their conditions, and help lift them up to make a better life for themselves and their families,” said the BCOC’s executive director, Erin Lukoss.

Car collector Gene sold one of his cars to collect funds for the donation. Ohev Shalom in Richboro and Shir Ami in Newtown also made contributions to reach the goal of $50,000.

Gene noted that he hopes his donation will inspire others in the community to give to worthy causes.

Among the recipients was Wayne, a man who had been homeless for eight years before the BCOC helped him move into a new home earlier this month.
