New Walking Trail in Honor of Local Couple Coming to Doylestown Health

A new walking trail in honor of Joan and Don Parlee will be constructed at Penn Medicine Doylestown Health, with gardens and bird feeders.

At Penn Medicine Doylestown Health, plans for a new accessible walking trail named Parlee Pathway are moving forward, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.

The trail, named in honor of Joan Parlee and her late husband, Donald, has been designed for employees, patients, visitors, and the Doylestown community.

The pathway, according to the hospital, is meant to serve as a peaceful spot, with bird feeders and garden spaces that “reflect Joan Parlee’s love of gardening and her late husband Don’s passion for birdwatching.”

For decades, the Parlee family has contributed to the hospital, dedicated to their mission of caring for their community’s well-being.

Dr. Don Parlee was a radiologist at the hospital for 43 years, growing the radiology department from one radiologist to 20.

Parlee was a veteran who served in the Vietnam War and received a Bronze Star for his service.

Along with establishing Doylestown Health’s School of Radiologic Technology, he also served as the president of the Bucks County Medical Society and the vice chair of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

“We are truly grateful for the Parlee family’s support of a space that embodies their shared values of healing, generosity, and community,” said Doylestown Health Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer Laura Wortman
