Beloved ‘Home Alone’ Actress Catherine O’Hara Had Ties to Bucks County

Actress Catherine O’Hara, known for her roles in “Beetlejuice,” “Home Alone,” and “Schitt’s Creek,” had a connection to Bucks County.

Actress Catherine O’Hara, known for her roles in “Home Alone” and “Beetlejuice,” has sadly passed away at the age of 71, writes Chris Ullery for the Bucks County Courier Times.  

O’Hara had a lengthy film and television career spanning 50 years. 

Her role in the hit show “Schitt’s Creek” as Moira Rose won her an Emmy in 2020 for outstanding lead actress. 

O’Hara frequently worked with writer and director Christopher Guest, appearing in classics like “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind,” and “For Your Consideration.” She was most recently in the cast of Seth Rogen’s satire “The Studio” on AppleTV. 

What might come as a surprise is O’Hara’s connection to Bucks County.

The actress was married to director and film and television production designer Bo Welch, who grew up in Yardley

The pair met during the filming of “Beetlejuice” when O’Hara was portraying Delia Deetz, mother of main character Lydia Deetz, alongside Michael Keaton

Welch was on the production team, serving as production designer, and the film’s director, Tim Burton, reportedly encouraged their relationship.  

The pair married in 1992 and had two children.
