For history aficionados, there’s no shortage of historical sites and locations to explore around Bucks County, offering the perfect blend of education and fun, writes Kaitlin Nasevich for Visit Bucks County.
Take a trip to Cravens Hall in Warminster, constructed between 1790 and 1845, and the John Fitch Steamboat Museum right beside it. Visitors can take tours on the second Sunday of every month from 12 to 3 PM.
Those nearby can visit Washington Crossing Historic Park to see where George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River to attack the Hessian troops.
Spend the night in one of the county’s historic inns, like the 1870 Wedgwood Inn of New Hope or The Inn at Bowman’s Hill.
Fallsington is a town with Quaker roots that allows visitors to take a step back in time. Guests can take walking tours and see significant historical buildings, using pamphlets as their guide.
The Underground Railroad had many important stops across Bucks County, including churches, privately owned farms, and taverns. The driving tour lets locals see all the sites from the warmth of their car.
You can’t miss the Mercer Mile, which consists of Henry Mercer’s Fonthill Castle, The Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, and the Mercer Museum.
