If Ken Burns’s storytelling gives you goosebumps, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.
Just weeks after the debut of his monumental PBS series The American Revolution, the Valley Forge Park Alliance (VFPA) is bringing the conversation home with an exclusive expert panel that unpacks the drama, ideals, and human stories behind the founding of our nation.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 PM, Oaks Center Cinema will transform into a front-row seat to history, offering participants a chance to look beyond the screen and explore the Revolution through the insight of scholars who’ve spent their lives studying it.
The event, “Ken Burns & The American Revolution: An Expert Panel Discussion,” invites attendees to dive deeper into the themes, triumphs, and contradictions explored in Ken Burns’s six-part, 12-hour The American Revolution documentary airing on PBS the week of Nov. 16.
The panel features an impressive lineup, including:
- Adam Gresek, Director of Visitor & Community Engagement at Valley Forge National Historical Park
- Kathleen M. Brown, acclaimed University of Pennsylvania historian and lead faculty member in feminist/queer/trans studies
- Ricardo A. Herrera, retired U.S. Army War College professor and Valley Forge Park Alliance board member
The conversation will be guided by moderator Melissa Jacobs, Editor-in-Chief of Main Line Tonight and a fellow VFPA board member.
This program also reflects the heart of the Valley Forge Park Alliance. The organization’s mission is to inspire appreciation for and citizen stewardship of Valley Forge National Historical Park.
As the Park’s philanthropic partner, the Alliance is dedicated to preserving and promoting the historical, cultural, and natural resources of this national treasure through educational programs, events, and volunteer opportunities that deepen the public’s connection to the Park.
Tickets to the Dec. 2 panel discussion are $20 for general admission and free for VFPA Grand Patron, Benefactor, or Friend’s Circle members.
Reserve your seat at the Valley Forge Park Alliance and be part of this unforgettable conversation.
