Across Bucks County, store owners are getting ready for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29, preparing their shops and restaurants for locals, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The benefit of turning to small businesses for your Christmas shopping is that you’re more likely to find unique gifts.
Nerice Kendter, owner of Doylestown’s Busy Bee Toys, noted that she hand-picks all the products she carries.
“I see and touch them at the various trade shows to make sure that they are high quality, engaging and fun. And I enjoy finding new products by smaller manufacturers that you’re not going to find at the big box stores,” she said.
Walking into any local small business, you’re also very likely to experience a warm welcome.
Monkey’s Uncle co-owner, Jeanell Morgan, noted that her company prioritizes customer service in their Doylestown store.
“When a customer walks in that door, we want you to feel like you’re running into your favorite neighbor,” she said.
Shopping at small businesses also provides a boost to the local economy and can have an impact on the community.
Many store owners, like Newtown Book & Record Exchange owner Chelsea Mitchell, give back to the community by participating in local charities.
