Kathy Romano, Who Grew Up in Bucks County, Starts New Morning Show

Kathy Romano, who grew up in Bucks County, recently joined B101 and is getting her own show.

Kathy Romano, who grew up in Bucks County, has joined B101 as its new morning show host four months after being laid off as co-host of WMMR’s top-rated Preston & Steve show, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Kathy Romano Show will premiere on Sept. 23, airing weekdays on Audacy-owned B101 from 6 AM to 10 AM.

The show will be co-hosted by Bobby Smith, while Laura Boss will be executive producer. Romano will also host a music-formatted solo show until noon.

Romano said her new morning show will be lighthearted and relaxing, with giveaways of her favorite things in the first month to help listeners get to know her better.

“You’ll have some fun stuff, fun topics,” said Romano. “It’s a feel-good station. Everybody’s there to kind of sing along in the car to the music, but we’re also going to give them a little fun and some things to talk about.”

Romano will be competing for listeners with her old Preston & Steve colleagues of 22 years, but she believes the market is big enough for two good morning shows.
