Independence Blue Cross has earned accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its newest commercial PPO/EPO health plan. This is an important recognition, as NCQA is a gold standard when it comes to healthcare quality.
“NCQA’s Health Plan Accreditation is a reflection of our commitment to the membership we serve,” said Dr. Ellen Riccobene, IBX’s Vice President of Clinical Care Transformation. “It demonstrates that we are providing coverage for care that meets the highest standards and is clinically sound, fair, transparent, and truly responsive to our members’ needs.”
Before a health plan can be accredited, NCQA performs a full review of how the plan meets their standards, ensuring that the plan is well-managed and committed to carrying out initiatives that result in quality care for members. To qualify, health plans must meet strict criteria in six key areas:
- Quality management and improvement
- Population health management
- Network management
- Utilization management
- Credentialing and recredentialing
- Member experience
“By setting high benchmarks, NCQA drives us to continue to refine our practices and deliver measurable improvements in member experience and care,” said Dr. Riccobene.
