Bucks County added approximately 3,616 people between 2020 and 2024, marking what could become a rare population increase, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, writes Chris Ullery for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The 0.6 percent increase occurred primarily in 29 Central and Upper Bucks townships and boroughs, with some seeing growth of nearly five percent. Meanwhile, 25 municipalities lost residents in the same period.
According to projections from the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, many counties across the state are expected to lose population by 2050. This decline could bring social and economic challenges to local communities. Bucks County is projected to lose more than 7.5 percent of its residents over the next three decades. The decline will bring its population to around 597,516.
The Bucks County municipality with the largest percentage increase between 2020 and 2024 is Dublin. The borough grew by 4.69 percent, from 2,176 residents to 2,278.
Hilltown ranks second with a 4.08 percent increase, followed by Chalfont in third place with a 3.78 percent growth.
Richland increased by 3.37 percent, and Lower Makefield, which is up 3.13 percent, rounds out the top five.
