Bristol Port Terminal along Radcliffe Street has been awarded a $25 million federal grant for revitalization, aimed at reducing truck traffic and creating jobs, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The grant was procured by U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. The funds were transferred from the U.S. Department of Transportation to the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority.
The renovations funded by the grant will be “transformative” and are intended to “reshape the regional economy, enhance freight mobility, and position Bucks County as a critical, strategic hub in America’s supply chain,” said Fitzpatrick.
The port at 7900 N. Radcliffe Street, called the Riverside Industrial Complex, is owned by Silvi Materials.
The latest grant is part of a larger $65 million effort to redevelop the port complex. This includes rebuilding a 1,100-foot dock on the Delaware River and adding modern crane off-loading equipment. The funds will also be used to dredge 70,000 cubic yards of river muck.
The aim is to improve port access, allowing more material to be transported by train.
“The goal, hopefully, is to reduce a lot of the truck traffic (that) I know has been an issue down there,” said Bucks County Redevelopment Authority’s executive director Jeff Darwak.
