The popular Amsterdam Coffee Bar in Buckingham recently opened a second location in Point Pleasant, tucked inside Kolbe’s Antiques & Art on the Delaware River, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
Kolbe’s, the restored 1700s hotel at River and Byram Roads, houses over 50 vendors offering an eclectic collection of fine art and antiques in a setting that blends historic charm with artistic expression. It is part of a broader resurgence underway in Point Pleasant, marked by newly renovated retail spaces and the opening of Boo’s Firehouse Tavern.
As the newest addition to the Point Pleasant experience, Amsterdam offers guests a place to unwind. Customers can enjoy its popular specialty coffees and lattes, fresh-baked goods, organic breakfast sandwiches and Liege waffles.
“The space itself is beautiful,” said Amsterdam Coffee owner Dale Ruschmeyer. “I completely overhauled the little cafe that was in there. I did all the woodworking myself. It’s really just a beautiful space.”
The café also stands out for its distinctive bonsai gallery, where most of the plants are available for purchase.
“I’ve integrated that experience into the coffee shops to combine the luxury coffee experience with a bonsai gallery,” said Ruschmeyer.
