Results are in for 2025 Bucks County High School Poet of the Year Contest, with top honors awarded to students representing four different schools across the county, Bucks County Community College officials announced, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The title of 2025 Bucks County High School Poet of the Year was awarded to Nilüfer Bektas, a junior from Harry S Truman High School in Bristol Township.

Professor Ethel Rackin, director of the Bucks County Poet Laureate Program, said Bektas stood out from more than 120 entries submitted from across the county. The junior received a $300 prize for her winning poems:  An Unspoken Eulogy, Heat Lightning, and Liberty.

Rackin stated that judges found all entries in the program’s 38th year were strong. Students presented three poems each, evaluated by Lake Angela, current Bucks County Poet Laureate, and Tara Tamburello, last year’s Poet Laureate.

Evie Lee, a senior at Solebury School, was first runner-up. Jack DeBoyace, a junior at Central Bucks East, second runner-up, while Addison Carr, a junior at Central Bucks West, was third runner-up.
