Pennsylvania Launches ‘Turnpike TV’ to Demystify Turnpike Construction, Projects, and Planning

PA Turnpike debuts Turnpike TV, a video series that explains local construction, upgrades, and planning—featuring updates on Bucks County projects.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is pulling back the curtain on how—and why—it makes decisions that impact drivers, neighbors, and businesses across the Commonwealth.

With the launch of Turnpike TV, a new video series now streaming on its website, the agency hopes to answer big questions in plain English.

Whether it’s how noise walls are designed, why roads are widened, or what goes into selecting a bridge for replacement, Turnpike TV covers it.

Viewers can dive into short, engaging videos on topics like preliminary design, right-of-way access, community impact, and environmental initiatives.

The Bucks County stretch of the Turnpike, especially the busy corridor connecting Bensalem to the Northeast Extension in Montgomery County, is no stranger to major construction and upgrades.

These projects often bring questions, frustrations, and plenty of local interest. Turnpike TV is the Commission’s way of inviting the public into the process.

“We know people are curious—and sometimes skeptical—about how we operate,” said CEO Mark Compton. “This is our chance to explain what’s happening and why.”

The series also highlights new tech-driven improvements like the fiber optic broadband network and Open Road Tolling, which went live in January.
