Architecture and interiors studio JAM helped a Brooklyn family design and build a Bucks County farmhouse as a cherished summer home with a Scandinavian aesthetic, writes Kelly Dawson for the Architectural Digest.
The aim was a space where the family could showcase their collection of vintage Scandinavian furniture while creating memories together.
“This is a family that operates as a unit,” said Megan Prime, principal designer and architect of JAM. “If someone wants to watch a movie, then they’re all watching a movie – that sort of thing. They were open-minded, but they asked for a home with a farmhouse vernacular mixed with Scandinavian minimalism, and a place where they could all let loose.”
The two focal points of the home are the pool and the screened-in porch by the living room.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence features a kitchen that balances high ceilings with a snack-and-go profile, and a basement that serves as an entertainment hub, which is the only space in the home with a television.
“The home is so relaxing, and the quality of the light and the way the breeze moves through the rooms is really magical,” said Joe McGuier, prime and cofounder of JAM.
