How Bucks County Ranks Among Pennsylvania Alzheimer’s Rates

Bucks County ranks in the middle among Pennsylvania counties that have the highest Alzheimer’s rates, according to a recently released report by Stacker.

Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. It is one of the top ten causes of death in the nation.

Using July 2023 data from the Alzheimer’s Association, Stacker mapped estimated Alzheimer’s rates among seniors 65 and older by state to pinpoint counties with the highest disease prevalence.

Bucks County came in at No. 25, with 10.9 percent of its residents aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s, or about 13,600 people.

Neighboring Delaware County ranked in second place with a 12.3 percent share of the population of 65 and above at 12.3 percent or 12,000 people. Montgomery County ranked fifth with 11.9 percent or 18,400 people, and Chester County came the lowest in the region at No. 32 with 10.8 percent and 9,900 people.

Philadelphia County has the highest rate of residents aged 65 and older with the disease in Pennsylvania, at 15 percent or around 34,000 people.
