American Airlines expects to debut its new business-class lounge at Philadelphia International Airport on schedule sometime later this May, writes Sean Cudahy for The Points Guy.
The premium lounge will be located in the A-West terminal of the airport, near the area where many of the carrier’s international flights depart from.
During the company’s first-quarter earnings call, American CEO Robert Isom shared that the club will be more upscale than the company’s Admirals Club portfolio and will offer a place for premium-cabin passengers and higher-level elite-status members to relax before one of the airline’s numerous flights from Philadelphia to Europe.
The lounge will be a welcome addition to the airport, as the carrier is projecting an increase of nearly 15 percent over last year in the number of seats traveling from Philadelphia to Europe. This includes several new nonstop routes, such as those to Milan and Edinburgh, that are set to launch before the end of the month.
The Philadelphia Flagship facility will be American’s ninth premium lounge, “with more to come,” said Isom.
To get into the Flagship Lounge, travelers will need a Flagship-branded first or business class ticket for long-haul international or eligible domestic routes.
