Dan DiZio, founder of Philly Pretzel Factory in Bensalem, has been in the pretzel business since he was 11, when he started helping a neighbor sell pretzels on the street, comments Sam Oched for NRN.
In 1998 he co-founded his business after finishing college and has since grown it to include 170 locations, mostly on the East Coast.
While the company is well known for its paperclip shaped pretzels, one key factor to its growth has been its Party Trays. Available in small and large varieties, the Party Trays are loaded with an assortment of pretzels and dips that can serve up to 25 people.
They have already proven to be a huge hit at parties, sporting events, and meetings, and they account for around a quarter of Philly Pretzel Factory’s overall sales. In some locations, that share goes up as high as 50 percent.
Addionally Party Trays help the brand to reach new customers in a very organic way.
“It’s something that’s really a big part of our business, something we started some 15-20 years ago that changed everything,” said DiZio.
