Famous River Hot Dog Man Serves Hot Dogs and More to Delaware River Adventurers

The Famous River Hot Dog Man stand on the Delaware River was started in 1987 by Greg Crance.

Located on the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the Famous River Hot Dog Man serves delicious eats to hungry kayakers and tubers, writes Eli Cohen for the Food Republic.

While the stand is famous for its hot dogs, it also offers a variety of options, including chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, and assorted snacks. Visitors who book a tour through Delaware River Tubing will receive a free meal, courtesy of the stand.

The Famous River Hot Dog Man offers the perfect mix of adventure and great food, making it the ideal stop after a kayaking challenge.

The stand was founded in 1987 by Greg Crance with the goal of discouraging river adventurers from bringing their own food and drinks and littering the river, which irritated nearby residents. Despite some challenges, the business grew successful enough to partner with Delaware River Tubing, propelling it into a regional legend.

The business won the New Jersey Governor’s Tourism Award in both 2011 and 2017. Though its founder passed away four years ago, his family continues to carry on his legacy.
