Brent Celek, a West Chester resident and former Philadelphia Eagles tight end, recently expanded his real estate portfolio with a Bucks County shopping center, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Celek began preparing for life after football well before his NFL career ended. He opened a restaurant in Philadelphia but grew disillusioned by a bad lease agreement. That is when he realized he would rather be a landlord than a renter.
He started investing in real estate before founding his own brokerage, Brent Celek Real Estate. His business in Media, is in a building he acquired for $100 per square foot, believing property values there would rise.
The acquisition helped Celek define his “long game” approach to real estate.
“I’m a firm believer that when you find a good piece of real estate, you try to hold on to it, ideally forever,” he said.
His latest acquisition is Chalfont Village Shopping Center that has three tenants and nine vacant spaces, which Celek is excited about filling.
“I think it’s a good piece of real estate in a good area,” he said. “And I believe I can add some value there.”
