Eighteen-year-old Rahim “Rich” Kakar, a Central Bucks East graduate, is opening the second location of his Red Rooster Hot Chicken in Doylestown, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Kakar opened his first restaurant in Warminster last summer, just weeks after graduating high school.
“I was halfway through senior year, and I was like either I go to college, or I start a business,” he said. “Hot chicken was the big trend in the past couple years, so I saw an opportunity and decided to take it.”
The eatery offers a small but hearty menu of cook-to-order dishes created by Kakar and his mom, including chicken sandwiches, tenders, and fries – all made with fresh ingredients.
“We keep a small menu so we can be the best at what we’re doing,” he said. “We don’t skip any steps; we do everything from the start to the finish line and we focus on the quality.”
The new Doylestown shop – offering dine-in service with indoor seating, takeout, and delivery – will be located in the former Quinoa space adjacent to Heirloom. Kakar aims to open the restaurant before summer.
