Historic Bistro Now Called ‘The Pear’ Reopens in West Chester

After five years of closure, The Pear in West Chester has successfully reopened under new owners Nick and Linda Farrell.

The historic Blue Pear Bistro has officially reopened in West Chester as simply The Pear, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today.

The restaurant was originally named The Blue Pear Bistro, which closed in 2019 after the death of owner Jim Barnes. After five years of vacancy, the space was recently renovated by restauranteurs Nick and Linda Farrell

The Farrells have worked in the culinary world for over two decades. The couple owns and operates Sovana Bistro in Kennett Square, and recently expanded to West Chester by revamping The Pear.

Renovations included refinishing the space’s floors, expanding the bar to now seat up to fifteen people, and redecorating the interiors to create a cozy lounge feel.

The menu is centered around seasonal ingredients with a few kitchen staples. Menu items include habanero and honey-glazed wings, swordfish kebabs, and a Waygu smash burger with Swiss fondue. With a full bar, it also features signature cocktails, including a pear-infused martini.

It is open from 3 PM to 9 PM Tuesday through Thursday, and from 3 PM to 10 PM Friday to Saturday.
