Washington Post: Bucks County Man Wins the Internet With Personal Party Invitations

Doug Turner in Bucks County caught the attention of the internet with his practice of delivering his hand-made party invitations to his neighbors.

Doug Turner, an 87-year-old Buck County man, has won hearts all across the internet with his handwritten and personally delivered invitations for a winter party at his home, writes for The Washington Post.

The video of Turner presenting the invitation to his neighbor, Michelle Hernandez, went viral on TikTok with more than 1.3 million views. The invitation had a delicately drawn snowflake and noted that the party would go on from 4 p.m. “until the cops arrive.”

“I was cracking up,” said Hernandez, who posted her Ring camera capture of the encounter on social media. “I just thought it was so sweet.”

Thousands of people commented on the video, many giving ideas for the party and even asking for an invitation.

“I didn’t expect any of this,” said Turner, who decided not to disclose his neighborhood to make sure his party does not get out of hand.

Turner organized his first annual neighborhood winter party in 2022 after his wife died. He supplies the food and drinks and asks guests to only bring their smiles.

“My wife is gone now, so it gives me something to keep me busy,” said Turner.
