Jessica Kartalija Joins 6abc Action News Following Split with CBS3
Jessica Kartalija joined 6abc Action News around three months after her split with CBS3, writes Ryan Sharrow for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Kartalija announced her move to Action News on social media last week, without giving any specifics about her new role.
At the time, she said she was “so grateful to be on this team and working for Philly’s legacy station.”
Kartalija’s first story for 6abc aired Wednesday, featuring a Levittown family returning home for Thanksgiving after a devastating fire in April 2023.
Before departing CBS3, Kartalija co-anchored the 5, 6, 8, and 11 p.m. newscasts with Ukee Washington. She joined CBS3 six years ago, after 12 years reporting for WJZ-TV, the CBS-owned station in Baltimore.
Kartalija is a San Diego native with strong Montgomery County ties. Her mother grew up in the county and her husband, Brian, is a Saint Joseph’s University graduate. Meanwhile, Kartalija graduated from Penn State University.
She is also a Villanova University adjunct professor, teaching a journalism and public speaking course.
The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters named Kartalija Television Broadcaster of the Year in 2024.
