Bagel Barrel, a longtime Doylestown favorite, has new owners who promise to continue its cherished legacy for years to come, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
On Monday, Bucks County natives Steve Cassidy and Nick Muzyczka took over the iconic 32-year-old eatery from long-time owner and founder, Patrick Murphy.
Murphy announced the sale this summer, assuring customers that the same familiar team will continue crafting the delicious bagels, widely regarded as the best in the county and beyond.
“This place is special,” wrote the new owners on social media. “There is no doubt about that. You can feel it as soon as you walk in the door.”
Cassidy and Muzyczka, business partners and longtime friends, first met at Council Rock High School while living in the Newtown area.
“We were both born and raised in Bucks County, so we know what this shop means to this community and understand what it really represents,” they wrote. “We both feel lucky and blessed to have the honor of carrying on this shop and is something that is not taken for granted. It’s our pledge to this great community to keep the Bagel Barrel’s legacy around for the next 32 years and beyond.”
