Clara Mae Company is a boutique store in downtown West Chester and seeks to offer unique clothing items and other one-of-a-kind goodies, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News

The shop, located at 107 N. Church Street, opened in August. The owner, Jessica Smedley, has a particular eye for fashion and beauty. Her favorite pieces are wearable vintage.

“When you walk into a room, you know that you’re not going to have something on that someone else is wearing,” Smedley said. Smedley found inspiration from her grandmother, who raised her and chose to honor their relationship by naming the shop after her.

Clara Mae Company leans into the seasonal clothing options as the weather turns chilly. Smedley has a sewing machine behind the store’s counter and sews T-shirts onto the back of vintage flannels.

They also sell sweatshirts, sportswear, designer handbags, and customized pieces.

Smedley works with another small business to sell giftware and soap.

The shop is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sundays from noon to 4 PM.
