Robert ‘Pop-Pop’ Heath, a 93-year-old Korean War veteran, is spending his free time recording sporting events for students in New Hope, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

When the season ends, he creates discs for the students, giving them a lasting memento of a special time in their lives.

“It started 30, 40 years ago, when the children went to school,” said Heath. “My interest was to take the activities that they did and make a recording of their activities. And then I just make each individual a disc. Some I’ll give a pen drive too. And it’s just my way of giving back to the community.”

In the many decades he has been recording the youth, he captured the games of his own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

“I use the system that I bought 20 years ago,” said Heath. “I just continue to do it.”

Over the years, Heath has been honored by many students and their families, friends, and faculty.

He has also created a scholarship fund in his name, and has been recognized with the namesake of the New Hope-Solebury Athletic Hall of Fame.
