Jersey Shore Mansion Built by Former Owner of Downingtown Motor Inn on Market for $13.9M
A 15-bedroom, 16-and-a-half-bathroom Jersey Shore mansion built by late Philadelphia banker and hotelier Daniel Tabas, former owner of Downingtown Motor Inn, has hit the market for $13.9 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The 10,500-square-foot home sits on a 125-foot by 125-foot lot and features abundant outdoor terrace space, an elevated pool, and manicured yard.
Tabas built the oceanfront home with his wife, Evelyn, in 1998. He was chairman of the Royal Bank of Pennsylvania and owned numerous hotels, restaurants, and other real estate holdings throughout the region. These include the previously mentioned Downingtown Motor Inn and Mickey Rooney’s Tabas Hotel.
The Ventnor City mansion was designed in the style of the Royal Bank of Pennsylvania’s Narberth headquarters. It has acorn motifs on the outside that pay homage to Tabas’ father’s company, Acorn Iron & Supply Co.
The current owners recently renovated much of the home’s interior, including transforming a third-floor primary bedroom into a new living room.
“It’s a spectacular renovation,” said listing agent Vincent Novelli with Compass Real Estate. “It really is a wow factor when you walk into this property, because you feel the magnitude of it.”
