The Harris campaign is using Philly-themed ads in the city to reach Philadelphia voters.

If you want a Philadelphian to vote, mention food. That seems to be part of the Harris campaign strategy here in the Philadelphia region as ads from the campaign feature Wawa, cheesesteaks and pretzels on debate day, writes Aliya Schneider for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are both speaking to the nation Tuesday night at The National Constitution Center in Old City, the first scheduled debate between the two candidates.

Her campaign announced plans to post the Philly-themed advertisements throughout the city on Tuesday—on billboards, food trucks, taxis, and digital projections. The ads will remain for a few days.

The Philly-themed ads play on cheesesteak ordering terms “wit” and “whiz”, feature the Wawa name in an attack ad on Trump and also use pretzel imagery and “Philadelphia Freedom.”

The last is likely referencing the Elton John classic while highlighting the debate’s location at The National Constitution Center.  The Constitution Center is a short distance from Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

“Freedom” has also been a common theme in Harris’ campaign.

Read more details about the ads and the messages they are trying to send in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
