Grand View Health in Sellersville Could Be Acquired By St. Luke’s University Health Network
St. Luke’s University Health Network is currently in talks to acquire Grand View Health in Sellersville, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
A spokesperson for the nonprofit with a significant presence in the Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania confirmed the talks on Monday.
The acquisition would extend St. Luke’s reach into the Philadelphia market. Currently, the closest hospital the system has to Philadelphia is St. Luke’s Upper Bucks in Milford, which replaced an older facility in 2019 and expanded last year.
Grand View – including both the hospital and related businesses – has recorded huge operating losses in recent years.
In the last three fiscal years, Grand View has lost over $40 million annually. In fiscal 2024, the loss reached almost $50 million, when Grand View reported $279 million in revenue. The health system spent $200 million in the summer of 2023 to open a new patient pavilion.
The talks follow several notable healthcare deals last month, including the acquisition of Doylestown Health by the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
