Quakertown native Sabrina Carpenter is getting high praise from critics in major news publications.

The Wall Street Journal’s recent review of Sabrina Carpenter’s latest album, “Short n’ Sweet,” highlights the singer’s evolution from a Disney Channel star to a bona fide pop artist.

Mark Richardson praises Carpenter’s newfound confidence, which has propelled her music career to new heights, particularly following her successful stint opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

“Short n’ Sweet” is described as a vibrant mix of genres, drawing heavily from ’80s pop while incorporating elements of R&B, country, and rock.

The Washington Post ranks Short n’ Sweet as Carpenter’s second “big girl” effort, delivering on the flirty fun of “Espresso” and the country-infused “Please Please Please.”

Chris Kelly highlights the cleverness in Carpenter’s songwriting, noting that her lyrics are vivid without crossing into vulgarity.

With lines like “This boy doesn’t even know the difference between ‘there,’ ‘their’ and ‘they’re,’” Carpenter’s wit shines through, particularly in tracks like “Slim Pickins.”
