The Doylestown Borough Environmental Advisory Council is calling on residents and businesses to take immediate action to protect migratory birds passing through the area, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The “Lights Out Doylestown” initiative encourages the community to turn off or reduce outdoor lighting from 11 PM to 5 AM during the critical migration period from August through November.
The council’s recommendations include turning off decorative lighting, extinguishing floodlights, and reducing atrium lighting. Residents are also urged to down-shield exterior lights to prevent upward glare and install motion sensors to minimize unnecessary illumination.
