Bierhaul Townhouse Takes on Tavern Scene in West Chester, Supplying Delicious Bites and Stellar Brews
Less than two years after finding success in Thornton with Bierhaul Farmhouse, James Mullally and Loïc Barnieu are taking on the tavern scene in West Chester with Bierhaul Townhouse, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today.
“I had the Bierhaul name, idea, and vibe in mind for a long time,” Mullally said. “To be fortunate enough to be able to do it twice is an opportunity I never thought I’d have.”
The new, two-story space features light wood tones and greenery, providing a bright and welcoming entrance to the restaurant. The second floor works with a beer garden concept. The restaurant is adorned with a Star Wars theme and paintings by local West Chester artist Cassius King.
Both Bierhaul locations share the same menu, with some standout options being the smash burger, a hearty and fresh lobster dip, and a variety of steamed mussels. Other popular pickings are the flatbreads, wings, and their shepherd’s pie.
Mullally utilizes both local and international brewers for the restaurant’s impressive beer program, including Media’s Sterling Pig and Germany’s Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei. Other innovative drinks are their Old Fashioned, made with mezcal or their Jeopardy-inspired, vodka-and-ginger Suck It Trebek.
