Financial Empowerment Takes Center Stage at Grundy Library with State and Local Support
Staff, leadership, and stakeholders of the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library welcomed Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor during his “Be Money $mart” tour on Jul. 15, where he underscored the importance of public libraries and the invaluable free resources they provide to community members.
With a special focus on financial literacy during the day’s event, members of Penn Community Bank, a loyal and avid supporter of the Grundy Foundation, were in attendance, as the Bank is a valued stakeholder of many of the Grundy programs.
“Penn Community Bank is proud to support initiatives that empower our community through financial literacy,” said Jeane M. Vidoni, President and CEO of Penn Community Bank. “Auditor General DeFoor’s visit to the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library underscores the vital role that libraries play in providing free resources to enhance financial knowledge. We are committed to working alongside local institutions like the Grundy Library to ensure that everyone has access to the tools they need for financial success.”
Grundy Library prides itself on being an innovative cultural institution with a variety of programs that promote the Pennsylvania Library Association’s (PaLA) PA Forward® initiatives. From “Cook the Book” to “Introduction to Grant Writing,” Grundy covers a vast range of financial literacy topics.
“Pennsylvania libraries offer more than just books — they are a central knowledge hub where you can access a multitude of resources for free,” DeFoor said. “One of the biggest benefits to having a library card is that it gives you access to information about money and will help you on your road to becoming financially literate. Financial literacy is vital to Pennsylvania’s growth, and I’m excited to see how the Grundy Library continues to educate their community in the future.”
DeFoor’s visit marks the beginning of new initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy within the Bristol community. The Grundy Library, in partnership with local institutions like Penn Community Bank, will be hosting a variety of workshops and seminars in the coming months. These events will cover essential topics from budgeting to retirement planning, all designed to empower individuals of all ages with the knowledge required need to achieve financial stability.
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of these free resources and programs. For more information on upcoming events, or to get your free library card, visit Margaret R.
