Solebury School soccer star Sawyer Wesp will continue his athletic career as part of Westminster College’s men’s soccer program, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

Sawyer signed his letter of intent last week during a small ceremony held at his school. His coaches, family, and teammates joined him to celebrate the occasion.

“I have played many sports, but I always enjoyed playing soccer the most,” said Sawyer.

“Westminster treated me the best and showed a lot of interest in how I played. It will be challenging, but I’m excited to take the next step to bigger challenges.”

Sawyer first started playing soccer as a four-year-old. At age seven, he played his first competitive game, where he scored four goals. While he continued to play several sports as he was growing up, he developed a love for both running and soccer.

“Sawyer has been a fantastic athlete in every sport he’s played,” said Stacie Anastasio, Director of Athletics. “He has always been a leader on and off the field, which I will miss most.”

The versatile athlete has received many awards and recognitions over the years, including being named Boys Soccer MVP in his sophomore year.
