Perkasie Phillies Fan Honors Late Mother with Fundraising Effort for Animal Rescue
Beth Overmier of Perkasie, alongside the Phandemic Krew, is close to reaching a fundraising goal in honor of her late mother, Bette, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio.
With nearly 100 games left in the Phillies’ regular season, they are nearly halfway to their $10,000 target for “Bette’s Triples – A Cause for Paws.”
Bette, a devoted Phillies fan, passed away last fall. To honor her memory, Overmier and the Krew pledge $100 to the PSPCA for every triple the Phillies hit this season. As of Friday, they have raised over $4,800, with the Phillies having hit 13 triples so far.
Overmier recalls her mother’s enthusiastic support, from ensuring her daughter watched every game to wearing her Phanatic hat. Bette and her husband became Phillies fans after moving to Pennsylvania in the 1970s, passing their passion for the team to their daughter.
This weekend, Overmier, her sons, and the Phandemic Krew are in London, cheering on the Phillies in their series against the Mets.
