Neshaminy High School Senior to Represent Philadelphia Region at National Musical Theater Awards
Cameron Krauss, a senior at Neshaminy High School, is one of two students from the Philadelphia region who are heading to the upcoming Jimmy Awards, reports Gray Hall for 6abc.
The national-level awards highlight the best of high school musical theater talent. Nominees from more than 50 regions across the country are featured this year.
Krauss found out he was headed for Jimmy Awards after he took one of the top honors at The Philadelphia Independence Awards for High School Musical Theater. He was recognized as the Best Lead Actor.
“My dad cried,” said Krauss. “My dad’s not a big crier. He jumped over one of the seats to get to me at the end. It was crazy.”
However for Krauss, this achievement has an extra layer of meaning.
“I want to advocate for people with disabilities in theater because I myself have Tourette’s,” he said. “And that’s something that was difficult for me when I first started theater. And then I realized I can actually use theater to channel that energy. And you don’t notice them when I’m on stage.”
